Subaru models have earned many awards over the years, and the Subaru Legacy has picked up quite a few of those. This mid-size sedan stands out from this category for a few different reasons, from standard all-wheel drive to its design. The 2022 Subaru Legacy stands out even more as it recently earned a 2021 IIHS Top Safety Pick+, the institutes highest honor. The design and driver-assist technologies brought this award to the new Subaru Legacy near Palo Alto, so we cover those and the award itself below!

What it Means to Be an IIHS Top Safety Pick+

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is an independent organization that looks to improve how safe vehicles are. They rigorously test vehicles every year and award Top Safety Pick honors to models that meet their qualifications. The Top Safety Pick+ honor is their highest award, and models that earn it must have:

  • Advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention for both other vehicles and pedestrians
  • Good ratings (the highest) for crash test areas ranging from the driver-side small overlap front to roof strength
  • Acceptable or good headlights standard

Safety Features of the 2022 Subaru Legacy Near Menlo Park

Like all of our new Subaru models, the 2022 Legacy provides safety through a combination of features. The frame design and airbags are there to protect every passenger in the cabin if a crash occurs. Accidents may be easier to avoid with the driver-assist systems, many of which are standard in the new Legacy. You'll enjoy Subaru EyeSight® technologies in every new Legacy, and those include pre-collision braking and adaptive cruise control, and other great features, like blind-spot monitoring, are available, too.

The 2022 Subaru Legacy shines in many more ways, and we love to talk about every aspect of this Subaru sedan. Swing by our showroom or call ahead to chat with our team about anything from Subaru maintenance to the different cars available!
