Subaru EyeSight Driver Assistance System Information

Subaru has released their newest safety feature, the EyeSight Driver Assist System, now optional on the Legacy & Outback 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited models. This new driver assistance system combines both safety and convenience features and is one of the most affordable technologies of its class available in the United States. Utilizing two CCD cameras developed by Subaru, the EyeSight System processes stereo images to identify vehicles & obstacles in front of the vehicle as well as traffic lanes, useful for lane departure warnings, and other items. The Eyesight Driver Assist System also has the ability to prevent a collision by performing pre-collision braking, and can detect crossing pedestrians when traveling below speeds of 19 mph.

Additional EyeSight Safety System Benefits

In heavy traffic conditions, the EyeSight System will alert the driver when the vehicle ahead moves forward and the driver takes no action to accelerate, helping to decrease overall traffic congestion. As an added convenience, Adaptive Cruise Control will detect the vehicle directly in front of the driver and provide automated braking and/or acceleration to maintain the driver-selected target speed and traveling distance. The Lane Departure and Sway Warnings provided by the EyeSight System can detect if the car begins to wander outside the intended lane when a turn signal isn't used, or if the vehicle beings to sway within the travel lane.
